This course is based on the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 and WorkSafe NZ’s Approved Code of Practice for the Management and Removal of Asbestos. It is designed for anyone who may come into contact with asbestos or asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) as part of their work.
The programme is delivered fully online, allowing you to learn at your own pace. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a digital certificate, which comes with a recommended renewal period of two years.

- What is asbestos and how to identify Asbestos or ACM in buildings.
- Asbestos health hazards: Asbestosis, Mesothelioma and other health risks associated with asbestos inhalation.
- Overview of Asbestos management plans and asbestos removal plans.
- Personal and asbestos worksite decontamination.
- Asbestos work and removal of up to 10m2 of Non-Friable Asbestos.
- PPE use and storage.
- Sampling of asbestos.
- Practical demonstration session showing Asbestos Safe Work Practices (Section 11 of the Asbestos ACOP).
