Description

  • There are three parts to this course:

    Online Pre-Learning:
The course is segmented into modules, allowing participants to progress at their own pace. Throughout the course, participants will encounter videos, resources, interactive activities, and formative assessments, all designed to facilitate their learning journey.

This should take participants approximately 5-hours to complete. Participants will have access to the course content for a duration of 6 weeks from the time of enrolment. Completion of the online component is mandatory before attending the in-person practical session, and participants must present their certificate of completion to the trainer.

Please Note: Failure to provide evidence of completing the online pre-learning will result in the participant not being awarded the unit standards.

    The In-person Practical Session:
New Zealand Resuscitation Council approved Emergency Care Instructors will address any queries participants may have from the pre-learning, demonstrate the application of this new knowledge, and guide participants in practicing first aid management skills.

    The Assessment
Completed on the same day, there will be written and practical assessments against unit standards 6400, 6401 and 6402. To pass, the assessor must provide sign-off and confirm that the participant was able to demonstrate the right skills to respond in a simulated accident or emergency.

In total, the practical training and assessment should take 7 hours.

Where the course can be completed onsite, trainers will adapt scenario-based activities to the workplace.

  • Prerequisites
    • Each participant is required to bring photographic identification (e.g. a passport or driver's licence or 18+ Card) for proof of ID.
    • Please arrive before or at the course time for a prompt start - late arrivals after the course time will be unable to attend on the day and required to rebook at a later date.

There are no prerequisites to complete this course for the first time or to revalidate an expired certificate. For First Aid Refresher training, the participant must have a current certificate.

Physical requirements: Participants need to be able to kneel on the floor to do CPR.

Language requirements: Participants must be able to complete the assessment in English.
